Alternate Names: Cyclic nucleotide-gated cation channel beta-3, Cone photoreceptor cGMP-gated channel subunit beta, Cyclic nucleotide-gated cation channel modulatory subunit, Cyclic nucleotide-gated channel beta-3, CNG channel beta-3, CNGB3
Accession NO.: Q9NQW8
Protein Ino: 311033366
Official Symbol: CNGB3
Geneid: 54714
Background: This gene encodes the beta subunit of a cyclicnucleotide-gated ion channel. The encoded beta subunit appears toplay a role in modulation of channel function in conephotoreceptors. This heterotetrameric channel is necessary forsensory transduction, and mutations in this gene have beenassociated with achromatopsia 3, progressive cone dystrophy, andjuvenile macular degeneration, also known as Stargardt Disease.
