Official Symbol: CCL25
Geneid: 6370
Background: This gene belongs to the subfamily of small cytokine CCgenes. Cytokines are a family of secreted proteins involved inimmunoregulatory and inflammatory processes. The CC cytokines areproteins characterized by two adjacent cysteines. The cytokineencoded by this gene displays chemotactic activity for dendriticcells, thymocytes, and activated macrophages but is inactive onperipheral blood lymphocytes and neutrophils. The product of thisgene binds to chemokine receptor CCR9.
